VISION THERAPY: EFFECTIVE VISION FOR ADULTS & KIDS

Vision Therapy

Nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism are not the only vision conditions to affect children and adults. There are a variety of non-refractive vision disorders too, such as lazy eye, misaligned eyes, convergence problems, weak eye teaming, and trouble focusing. When kids with these disorders are left untreated, it can seriously affect their ability to learn in school, play sports, and socialize normally.

A comprehensive eye exam can diagnose visual dysfunction, and vision therapy can be an extremely effective treatment. We offer customized vision therapy sessions for children and adults in our Burlington, ON, eye care center, which consists of activities and exercises for neuro-optometric rehabilitation.

Learning Disabilities

If your child has trouble with basic reading and writing, a vision dysfunction could be to blame. Many kids who are diagnosed with learning disabilities really suffer from a visual disorder that interferes with their ability to focus and process visual information.

Vision therapy strengthens children’s visual skills, thereby correcting any underlying vision problems and resolving many of the obstacles that can get in the way of learning. If your child has been diagnosed with a learning disability or behavioral issue, we recommend contacting our Burlington, ON, eye care clinic for a comprehensive eye exam and vision therapy consultation.

Brain Injuries

If you suffer trauma to the head, such as a stroke or concussion, it is typical to experience visual disturbances. That’s because your visual system depends on a dynamic interaction between your brain and your eyes. Your eyes gather and convey visual information to your brain, where it is processed and transformed into actions and ideas. When that system is disrupted by a brain injury, vision therapy can be an effective treatment. Vision therapy can also help when a neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis or a brain tumor damages the brain.

Our Burlington, ON, an optometrist will perform a detailed eye exam to assess visual function, and the results will be applied towards designing your individualized vision therapy program.
